Daily Million Winner Vows To Keep Working
A man from North Dublin has revealed that it felt like his heart had stopped when he found out he had won the top prize on Daily Million. The lucky player could not believe what had happened to him even when he was presented with his cheque for €1 million on Tuesday, saying it will only start to sink in when all the ‘lovely zeros’ appear in his bank account.

The winner, who has decided to remain anonymous, matched the numbers 5, 7, 23, 24, 33 and 35 in the 9pm draw on Wednesday 12th September. He had bought his Quick Pick ticket earlier in the day at the Costcutter Express Store on North Circular Road in Phibsboro in Dublin 7.
He did not check the results until the next evening, when he got home from work and used the Aertel teletext service on RTE. As the realisation came over him that he had matched all the winning numbers, he said he started to feel extremely overwhelmed.
Helping The Family Out
“My heart genuinely stopped for a couple of seconds and my stomach was in absolute knots,” he recalled. “The following morning, I read in the paper that the local shop had sold the lucky ticket which gave me even further hope that I was probably the winner.”
He finally headed to National Lottery headquarters yesterday to present his winning ticket to officials, but he still did not want to get too carried away. “I genuinely thought that I would be told that I’d checked my ticket wrong and I didn’t win anything.”
The Dubliner has no plans to give up work and does not want to make any major changes, but he is also determined to use the money to improve the lives of his loved ones, saying: “The million euros will certainly be put to good use.
“I haven’t told a soul so I can’t wait to get the family together and hand them each an envelope with a cheque inside. It’s a dream come true for me to help people out like that. It’s a massive bonus but it won’t affect my day-to-day life and I’ll be back to work in the morning as usual.”
EuroMillions Superdraw on Friday
Daily Million is just one of the ways you can become a millionaire thanks to the Irish National Lottery. The game offers two chances to win prizes of up to €1 million every day, with draws taking place at 2pm and 9pm. You have to select six numbers from 1 to 39 to take part, and can also add the Daily Million Plus option to your ticket.
Irish Lotto draws always have a multimillion-euro jackpot, while the top prize in Lotto Plus 1 has recently changed to a fixed €1 million. If you match just two numbers plus the Bonus Ball on Lotto, Plus 1 or Plus 2, you will receive a free entry into Daily Million.
If you are looking for the biggest prizes, though, EuroMillions is the lottery to play this week. A Superdraw has been scheduled to take place on Friday night, giving you the chance to win €130 million.
Superdraws only take place a few times a year and offer enormous nine-figure jackpots. It does not cost any more than usual to play and you still just need to select five main numbers from 1 to 50 and two Lucky Stars between 1 and 12 to take part. The top prize will roll over if it is not won on Friday, setting up the possibility that the jackpot cap of €190 million could be reached in the next few weeks. You can take part in Friday’s draw online or by visiting an authorised retailer.
