The Millionaire Raffle is an annual tradition for Irish Lottery fans, with tickets often purchased as Christmas gifts before the draw takes place on New Year’s Eve.
There is always a limited number of tickets on sale, but this year it is up from 500,000 to 600,000. With more tickets available, at a cost of €25 each, it allows the organisers to put up even more prizes.
As well as the €1 million ticket, six other players will win €100,000, while a range of other prizes between €500 and €10,000 will also be given away. In total, 8,500 players will split a prize fund worth €6.3425 million, making it the richest Millionaire Raffle of all time.
Go to the Irish Christmas Millionaire Raffle page to find out more about how this year’s game works, including the number of prizes available of each value.
One important point to remember is that the tickets may sell out if you wait too long. There are just 600,000 of them out there, and just because the draw takes place late on 31st December doesn’t mean you will definitely be able to play right up until the last day. If they sell out sooner, you’ll miss out on the chance to become a millionaire.
It is also vital to remember to check the results afterwards. Back in 2016, the Cork player who matched the €1 million number failed to come forward before the 90-day claim deadline.
The following year, 2017, saw the €1 million prize go to professional football player Kevin O’Connor, then of Preston North End, who had been given the ticket by his godfather.
If you would like to follow in the footsteps of O’Connor and other previous winners, make sure to pick up a ticket now and keep your eyes out for the results. A big win would set you up for the perfect start to 2024.
