Irish Lotto Winner Plans to Stay Humble after €2.2 Million Win
An Irish Lotto ticket holder who won a share of Saturday’s €4.5 million jackpot has vowed to keep his feet on the ground following his top prize win. The lucky winner successfully matched the numbers 2, 5, 8, 14, 40 and 42 in Saturday’s draw to claim a prize of just over €2.2 million.

The fortuitous Irish Lotto fan, who has opted to remain anonymous, was visiting Donegal when he purchased a Quick Pick ticket from Centra Foodmarket in the quaint village of Carrigart on the day of the draw. The man, who was attending a wedding in the area, only became aware of his win after speaking to a number of the other guests. "I checked my ticket on Sunday after the news went around the wedding the night before that a winning ticket was sold in the shop,” he revealed in a press release upon collecting his cheque. “It’s surreal, like I’m in a dream. Crazy…but a good crazy!”
Despite being in possession of a jackpot winning ticket and seeing the results for himself, the situation was still a little hard for the lucky player to take in: "I couldn’t believe it when I saw I had the winning numbers. I kept checking the ticket. I rang my girlfriend and then my sister to share the news.” The man is now planning on how to spend his newfound wealth, but isn’t going to let himself get too carried away: "It will make life more comfortable but I’ll keep my feet on the ground, and think about my future. Of course, what what a lottery win be without a little splurge: "I’ll buy a new car – that will be my first big purchase. It’s amazing to win.”
Meanwhile, the second winners of Saturday’s jackpot have also come forward to claim their half of the prize. The family syndicate of two, who have also wished to remain nameless, bought their ticket from Hannah Mary’s County Store XL in Killorglin, Co Kerry following a chance encounter with a cat: "We were on the way to the shop and a black cat ran in front of the car. It must have been fate,” the pair told lottery officials.
Don’t forget that there are plenty of opportunities for you to win big this weekend, with Saturday night’s Irish Lotto draw estimated to be worth €2.5 million. But before that, why not enter Friday’s EuroMillions draw when the prize will be a colossal €156 million - a prize you certainly do not want to miss! Tickets for both draws are available to buy online and from all authorised retailer throughout the country. Best of luck!
