The lucky player matched all the numbers in the draw on Saturday 18th March, becoming the forth jackpot winner of the year. He had purchased his ticket on the day of the draw from Bowe’s EuroSpar in Duleek village, but the fact that he is now a multimillionaire has still not fully sunk in.
“I’ve had over a week to process the win and still can’t wrap my head around it,” said the winner, who wishes to remain anonymous.
“I kept double checking and triple checking the ticket all week to make sure I hadn’t made a mistake, but today, the ticket was confirmed, and I nearly keeled over when I received my cheque and saw all the numbers. It's the most surreal feeling ever.”
The winner is now looking forward to a bright future, starting with a good break this summer. He is also glad that the money will be able to benefit others.
“I’m determined to share this prize with my nearest and dearest to spread some joy. I've already given some of my friends some money to help change their lives a little and I’m in the process of dividing the remainder of the prize out amongst my family,” he said.
“I can’t wait to hop on a plane and take a nice long holiday in the sun over the next couple of months to really let the win really sink in.”
The latest success marked another notable win for Duleek, which has been dubbed one of the luckiest places in Ireland. A family syndicate from the town won an €8.9 million Lotto jackpot last October.
To give yourself a chance of winning the next Lotto jackpot, you can choose numbers online now or buy tickets from an authorised retailer. View the latest results after draws have been held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
