Ireland has sold a total of seven jackpot-winning tickets since joining EuroMillions back in October 2004, making them accountable for 2.4% of the total number of top prize wins in the game’s history. While Ireland has only had a handful of EuroMillions jackpot winners, one of EuroMillions’ most memorable winners, Dolores McNamara, is from Limerick.
Dolores, a mum of six, hit the headlines back in July 2005 after scooping a huge €115 million EuroMillions jackpot which, at the time, was the largest top prize win in EuroMillions history. With some of her prize money Dolores, who was struggling to make ends meet before her win, purchased Lough Derg Hall estate in Killaloe, County Clare for a total of €3.5 million. The former cleaner now regularly attends charity events and fundraising galas.
The identity of Friday’s jackpot winner is not yet known but IrishLottery.com will bring you the latest news if they decide to claim their prize publically.
For those of you who would like to hit the big time and win a massive jackpot, there’s a EuroMillions draw on Tuesday with a €15 million jackpot and an Irish Lotto draw on Wednesday which is offering a €2.5 million top prize. Tickets for both can be purchased online by clicking on the Tickets tab or by visiting an authorised retailer.
